Town Hall Dialogue on Inclusive Democratic Governance in Cross River State: A Milestone in Amplifying Women and Youth Voices
On September 9, 2025, the Nigerian Women Trust Fund hosted a landmark Town Hall Dialogue on Inclusive Democratic Governance in Cross River State, kick-starting the “Amplifying Women and Youth Voices for Inclusive Democratic Governance in Cross River State” project. Supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office through the Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room, this initiative brought together women, youth, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss pressing governance issues and shape policy decisions.
The dialogue provided a platform for citizens to engage directly with policymakers, sharing their experiences and proposing solutions to existing challenges. Through deliberations, participants identified key areas requiring policy intervention and made recommendations. A Communiqué outlining these recommendations serves as a roadmap for policymakers to promote more inclusive and responsive governance in Cross River State.
This Town Hall Dialogue marks a crucial step towards amplifying women and youth voices in governance processes, contributing to a more inclusive democratic governance framework. The AWYID-Gov project aims to enhance citizen participation, promote inclusive decision-making, and strengthen democracy in Cross River State. By building a more engaged and empowered citizenry, the project seeks to hold leaders accountable and drive sustainable development.
The event’s impact is expected to be significant, paving the way for more inclusive governance in the state. As the project continues to unfold, it is anticipated that the voices of women and youth will become increasingly influential in shaping the future of Cross River State, leading to a more equitable and prosperous society for all.
