Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu

Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu is a renowned human rights lawyer, author, academic, and public intellectual. He has a distinguished career in human rights advocacy, having served as the Chairman of Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission, where he worked to strengthen the institution’s role in addressing injustices.

Prof. Odinkalu has held senior roles at international organizations, including as the Senior Team Manager for Africa at the Open Society Justice Initiative.

He has worked as an advisor for the Ford Foundation New York, the World Bank, African Union, International Council for Human Rights Policy, Geneva; and many others. He is a vocal advocate for social justice, governance reforms, and the rule of law in Africa.

In academia, Prof. Odinkalu has contributed significantly to the study and practice of human rights law, most recently as a Professor of Human Rights Law at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
