Dr. Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi
Dr. Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi is a Nigerian lawyer, feminist, academic, and civil rights activist committed to promoting women’s rights, democracy, and governance.
She is the founder of the Women Advocates Research and Documentation Center (WARDC), an organization dedicated to advancing gender equality and human rights in Nigeria. Dr Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi is an executive board member of the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding and the Nigerian Women’s Trust Fund.
She teaches International Humanitarian Law at the University of Lagos. In 2016, She was elected the chairman of The Monitoring Group (TMG), a coalition of 400 civil society organizations.
She is also currently the Dean of the School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG). Her work has earned her multiple awards and recognition for championing women’s empowerment and governance reforms.
